Fourth matchup of the season for Academy in USSDA
The USSDA season continues this Saturday, as New York City FC, another MLS academy, visits Centre Nutrilait to take on the Montreal Impact Academy. The U15s will kick off at 10am, the U17s at 12:30pm, and the U19s will close out the day with a game at 3pm.
Tough test for U15
The Impact’s youngest side in USSDA will certainly have its hands full this weekend, against a team that has three wins in three games thus far this season. NYCFC’s most recent win comes against the Players Development Academy, a 2-1 win over PDA’s U15 side, the same team the Impact U15 defeated 4-1 the following day.
The Impact U15 has a record of two wins and one loss after three games, its sole loss coming at the hands of the New York Red Bulls last Saturday.
U17 chasing perfection
It’s been a solid start to the season thus far for Jason Di Tullio’s men, with the U17 side managing three wins after three games. Keep a close eye on Mouhamadou Kane, who scored five goals in two games last weekend. The young forward already has six goals this season.
Things are a little more difficult to start the season for NYCFC’s U17 side, who lost its opening game to the Baltimore Armour, 2-1, before managing a 1-1 draw against Bethesda SC. The team did, however, manage its first win last weekend, edging out the U17 Players Development Academy team 1-0.
U19 side looking to build off win
After kicking off the 2019-20 season with two losses, Philippe Eullaffroy’s troops were back to their winning ways last Sunday, dismantling PDA’s U19 side 4-2, with a hat-trick for Mujtaba Mir Hasan. They’ll look to continue that form at home, against New York City FC’s U19 side, who also defeated PDA’s U19 side 2-1 in its last game.
About the New York City FC academy
Founded in 2015, at the same time the club began playing in MLS, the New York City FC academy already has three players that graduated into the first team roster. Midfielders James Sands and Justin Haak, and defender Joe Scally all signed Homegrown contracts.
Its academy teams train and play most of their matches on the fields of St. John’s University.
