Fans had a chance to ask Impact legend Marco Di Vaio a few questions in a live chat last week, just prior to playing the final game of his illustrious career this Saturday at 4pm versus D.C. United at Stade Saputo. Here are the top five questions asked of Il bomber:
@Xscarface1999X: How has your experience been in Canada?
MDV: Amazing. I’m very happy to have been able to experience this, especially at first with my family, but even now. I met really great players, played for a great club with a great ambiance in the stadium.
@FrankLevesque09: What is your best memory in Montreal?
MDV: I would say there were two that stick out for me. One, on the pitch, is the fans at the stadium. The environment was just like Europe and we felt their support and confidence in us, especially winning the Canadian Championship and CONCACAF Champions League. We did some good things on the field. The other, off the pitch, is that I love to try different food and restaurants and Montreal has so many diverse, fine dining restaurants. I think I’m going to miss that when I go back to Italy because we don’t have that back home.
@Latinoway:What advice would you give to players wantingto come to Montreal?
MDV: I would advise them to come to Montreal. For me, in North America, it’s the best place for an Italian or European player. There are a lot of fans, lots of emotions in the stands and a great ambiance. The club is run much like clubs in Italy. The quality of life is better too because there isn’t that crazy pressure like you have in Italy.
@jstrizzi:What is one of the advantages of playing in MLS?
MDV: The facilities here are top notch. The stadiums in Italy are very old and fans sometimes prefer staying home and watching on TV, but that’s not good for the team, the players who play in front of empty stands and brings no money to help improve the team. Here, the base, the foundation was built first and now they are bringing in the players. There may be good players in Italy, but the facilities aren’t good.
@Impactfan93:Of all the goals you’ve scored for the Impact, which one stands out the most?
MDV: For me, my goals are almost like children, you can’t choose a favourite because I work all week to score goals. It’s a satisfaction for me that I did my job and helped the team. But, the two I scored against the Revolution in my second to last game, scoring a brace was a great feeling and I could leave the fans a nice memory.
