Tuesday at noon, on the synthetic field at Stade Saputo, the Impact Family gathered to support first team defender Karl W. Ouimette by taking part in the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge.
This year, 12 players from the Academy got their heads shaved: Rickson Aristilde and Gabriel Beaupré-Poirier (Impact U13), Vinyo Alipui, Kareem Sow and Shawn Rojas (Impact U14), Garven Michée Metusala, Franck Sany-Kong, Gabriel Balbinotti and Kevin Tran (Impact U16), as well as Jems Geffrard, Franck Zoue and Mitchel Bringolf (Impact U23).
Last year, the Academy raised $2,000. This year, the players and the Academy staff more than doubled the amount, raising a total of $5,000.
The Shaved Head Challenge supports children whose body image is altered when chemotherapy provokes hair loss. It also helps raise money for the families of children suffering from cancer as well as provides financial support for clinical research efforts.
