MONTREAL – The Women’s Excel Program (WEP) squad, representing CF Montréal Academy's Women's Program, was crowned champion of the 2023 Women’s Ligue1 Québec season on Saturday afternoon following a 0-0 draw with CS Longueuil at Centre Nutrilait in the team’s final match of the season.

The Quebec players concluded the 2023 season with an 8-1-2 record and 26 points, earning a qualification berth for the upcoming Canadian Championship to be held in Langley, British Columbia, from August 11th to 13th.

This is the team’s first provincial title in its second season in the league. The WEP program finished seventh last year.

“It is a source of great joy and pride for the group which has been working hard since the beginning of the year, even before the season started,” said head coach Julie Casselman. “We set ourselves some very tough goals to finish first and qualify for the Canadian Championship. The girls took these goals to heart and gave their all throughout the season. I am very proud of them today.”

The young athletes will still be competing in the Coupe Ligue1 Québec where they will meet Royal Sélect Beauport in the quarterfinal round on July 22.
