Six Impact players with the Canadian National Team

Goalkeeper Greg Sutton, defenders Gabriel Gervais, Adam Braz, Nevio Pizzolitto and André Hainault, as well as midfielder Patrick Leduc were selected by head coach Frank Yallop.

Team Canada will be preparing for a friendly game that is slated for January 22 in San Diego, against the United States.

“It’s very positive for these players because they will have the chance to gain back their fitness and to prepare themselves for next season,” said Montreal Impact head coach Nick DeSantis. “It will be a great challenge for them to face the USA. Their selection shows that Frank Yallop has confidence in them. Now it’s in their hands, it’s up to them to be ready and to show they can contribute.”

Sutton, Gervais, Braz and Leduc were all called up by the Canadian national team for last year’s CONCACAF championship, the Gold Cup, which was played from July 6 to 24 in the United States. Braz also faced Spain, September 3, 2005, in an international friendly. It will be defender AndrĂ© Hainault’s first experience with the senior squad.

No other player from the United Soccer Leagues First Division was selected for the training camp.

Following the game against the USA, Canada's Men's National Team has agreed to an international friendly on March 1st, 2006 against Austria.

The Montreal Impact will kick off the 2006 First Division United Soccer Leagues season on Sunday, April 23 in Florida, against the expansion-team Miami F.C. The Impact will play the 13th home opener of its history at Claude-Robillard Sports Complex on Sunday, May 21, against the Minnesota Thunder.
