With the Montreal Impact commencing its quarterfinal home-and-away aggregate goal Champions League series at the end February – with the FIFA Club World Cup in sight - this season’s top team from CONCACAF, Mexican club Cruz Azul kicks off the 2014 edition of the Club World Cup in Morocco, set for December 10 to 20.
The Club World Cup is a tournament that involves seven teams, six champions from each of the regions: the winners of the AFC Champions League (Asia), CAF Champions League (Africa), CONCACAF Champions League (North and Central America, Caribbean), Copa Libertadores (South America, CONMEBOL), OFC Champions League (Oceania) and UEFA Champions League (Europe), along with the host nation's national champions.
This year’s representative from North America is Cruz Azul – former Impact midfielder Hernan Bernardello’s current club - taking home the 2014 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League in order to qualify.
The Mexican club will be taking on the likes of European powerhouse Real Madrid (UEFA), along with Ignacio Piatti’s former club from Argentina, San Lorenzo, as winners of the Copa Libertadores, determining South America’s top team.

The Montreal Impact will play its decisive Champions League quarterfinal home game on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 8pm at Olympic Stadium, against prominent Mexican club Pachuca, while the opening leg will be played in Mexico on February 24.
