MONTREAL – The Montreal Impact celebrated the official opening of its new training centre on Wednesday, announcing that the facility will now be called Centre Nutrilait.

Nutrilait becomes the presenting partner for the Montreal club’s youth and development program as well as for the Soccer Schools and for the Montreal Impact’s youth teams from U8 to U14.

Centre Nutrilait, built in the historic Caserne Letourneux, will now be home to all of the Impact’s 11 teams: the Pre-Academy (U8 to U12), the Academy (U13 to U18), FC Montreal (USL) and the first team (MLS), which amounts to over 230 players.

Built in 1915, Caserne Letourneux became a Montreal Impact property in 2014, after three years of research to locate a site for an eventual training centre. Not only did the club upgrade the building itself, adding offices, dressing rooms, classrooms, physio rooms, a gym and a kitchen, but it also built four soccer fields, including two natural grass fields, at nearby Parc Champêtre.

A 16-million dollar facility, Centre Nutrilait was upgraded in collaboration with the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough and with Ville de Montréal, notably for the tower of the building. The fields used on a daily basis by Montreal Impact teams will also be accessible to local soccer clubs.

“The growth of our club reaches another milestone today with the official opening of our training centre,” said Impact president Joey Saputo. “We are leaving a mark on our city and a legacy for future generations. This wonderful century-old building is rich with history, and our youth will ensure that it lives on. I wish to thank Nutrilait for supporting our sport and our future.”

“It is with great pride that we tie our Nutrilait brand to Montreal’s newest training centre, which will see families of today and athletes of tomorrow come together through soccer,” said Lino A. Saputo, Jr., Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of the Board at Saputo Inc. “To Nutrilait, soccer is a sport that brings people together, and we are thrilled to support this centre of expertise that will allow more young people to further their development in an inspiring environment.”

Nutrilait is proud to support the Impact Soccer Schools, which have developed complete and extensive programs allowing players and coaches to reach their full potential, the Pre-Academy, which seeks to develop young soccer players in Montreal and the surrounding areas, and the Academy, which aims to develop young soccer players into professionals.

In 2001, Nutrilait joined the Saputo family to better serve your family.
