MONTREAL, March 9, 2016 – The Montreal Impact Foundation’s “C’est mieux en bleu” fundraising event, which took place on Wednesday, raised $110,000 to help underprivileged children.
A few days before the team’s home opener at Olympic Stadium against New York, the 2016 edition of the Montreal Impact along with members from its technical staff were on hand to support the cause.
New Foundation president Carmie Frassetti-Saputo was delighted with the success of the event’s third edition.
“In just three years, our Foundation has managed to achieve wonderful advancements in the community,” said Carmie Frassetti-Saputo. “It has made a name for itself by being directly involved in the lives of children and their needs.”
In 2015, the Foundation helped and supported children in need by giving $170,000 to nine community organizations: Centre des Jeunes Boyce-Viau, Maison à Petits Pas, Centre communautaire Hochelaga, Institut Pacifique, ruelle de l’avenir, CCSE Maisonneuve, Centre des jeunes Saint-Sulpice, GCC La violence!, and the Carrefour communautaire de Rosemont l’Entre-Gens.
With the amount announced on Wednesday, and thanks to the support of BMO Financial Group, the Foundation has now raised nearly $1.5M since its creation in 2013.
The event was also an opportunity to pay tribute to the Foundation’s first president, Mr. Dino Madonis, who was in attendance. Mr. Madonis was also tremendously involved in Quebec’s amateur soccer scene for many years.
“Our Foundation is always looking ahead to build a better future but at key moments, we also need to take the time to look back at what has been accomplished. Tonight, we wish to thank Mr. Madonis for his involvement in this Foundation since its inception, in 2013, as well as for his great generosity,” concluded the new president.
The Foundation’s next event, will take place September 10 and 11 at Stade Saputo when it will stage the annual Centraide Cup, in collaboration with Centraide.
