MONTREAL -
After a two-all tie at the end of regulation time, CF Montréal defeated Pumas UNAM 4-2 on penalties in their first Leagues Cup match.
Montreal has reached half-time with a two-goal lead with goals from Bryce Duke (23rd) and Mathieu Choinière (43rd) while Pumas UNAM came back in the second-half with goals from FernĂ¡ndez (88th) and Montejano (90+1st), forcing the two teams to play a penalty shoot-out. Jonathan Sirois's team-mates then won 4-2 and picked up a bonus point in the race for the Leagues Cup final table.
"It was a true Cup match, with a lot of emotion. We did a very positive collective performance, which gives us a lot of confidence for the future. I think we deserved to win on regular time, but it's good to have won the penalty shoot-out and the bonus point," said CF MontrĂ©al head coach HernĂ¡n Losada after the match.
