MONTREAL – FC Montreal lost 5-0 on Wednesday night, to the Harrisburg City Islanders on the synthetic field at Stade Saputo in the last game of the USL season.

Midfielder Jason Plumhoff scored a hat trick in the City Islanders' win.

In the 9th minute, Craig Foster found Plumhoff at the edge of the box. His low shot beat goalkeeper Yann-Alexandre Fillion to his left. Plumhoff scored again in the 19th minute, on a pass from Antoine Hoppenot.

As soon as the teams got back on the field following halftime, Harrisburg added to their lead. In the 47th minute, on a missed clearance, Hoppenot scored the third goal of the game. Alone, forward Andrew Lubahn dribbled in the box before scoring in the 54th minute.

In the 89th minute, midfielder Mastanabal Kacher provoked a foul just in front of the opponent’s box, earning a dangerous free kick, but the shot hit the players in the wall.

Harrisburg scored the final goal of the game when, in the 90th minute, Plumhoff completed his hat trick.

“I think the defensive transition wasn’t good enough today,” said defender Aron Mkungilwa. "We knew they were a good passing team, but we didn’t adjust, and it hurt us today.”

“Players were ready after the good result against New York," said assistant coach Simon Gatti. "But the opponent was dangerous and made good runs. We gave away the ball badly. As the season came to a close, players raised their game level in general and we are happy with the progress they made.”

FC Montreal ends its first USL season with a 8-16-4 record, including a 7-5-2 record in the second half of the season.
