MTL-NYRB2

MONTREAL – FC Montreal will host the New York Red Bulls II Wednesday, at 7:30pm, at Stade Saputo. Access to the game is free and also available via web streaming at //www.impactmontreal.com/en/fcmontreal.

The team has been in tough over its last four games, with one draw and three losses, after seeing a lot of progress throughout the summer. The Bleu-blanc-noir has a 6-4-2 record since the second half of the season kicked off.

“It’s been a bit like a roller-coaster over the past two months,” said assistant coach Simon Gatti. “Good results in 8 games followed by four bad results. It’s important to finish the season strong. It will also show the league that our good series wasn’t about luck. Now, guys have more experience so we expect more from them.”

“We had three poor performances over the last few games. Now we are back home, in front of our fans, in our stadium, against another good young team,” said defender Nevello Yoseke. “We will come out and do our best. We’ve been training hard. The guys are not happy about recent results, so we want to come out and win, and get the confidence back.”

The team, already youthful, gave playing time to younger players over the last few games. Samuel Duffek, Aron Mkungilwa and Nevello Yoseke, all coming from the U18 group that signed USL contracts at the end of July, saw action. The 18 year old Cameroonian midfielder Fabrice Mbvouvouma also got his first minutes in the last game against Toronto.

New York is in the middle of a playoff race, currently in 3rd position in the Eastern Conference with a 12-8-6 record, winning its last three games to get there.

As head coach Philippe Eullaffroy embarks on a two-week training course in Europe with the Fédération Française de Football and the MLS, assistant coach Simon Gatti will be in charge of the team for the final two games of the season.

FC Montreal will play its next game on Wednesday, September 16, at 4pm, on the synthetic field at Stade Saputo.
