MONTREAL - CF Montréal’s U15 and U17 teams kick off their 2023-2024 season in the MLS NEXT championship this Saturday, the fourth in the Academy's history.
The regular season will feature 25 matches from September to June. Ten will be played at Centre Nutrilait and open to the public free of charge.
After their opening match at New York Soccer Club, the two teams will play their first match of the season in Montréal on Saturday, September 16th against Toronto FC Academy.
The Academy's U15 and U17 teams will also take part in the four major tournaments of the MLS NEXT season: MLS NEXT Fest, Generation adidas Cup, MLS NEXT Flex and MLS NEXT Cup.
In 2022-2023, the U15 team finished runner-up in the MLS NEXT Cup, the season-ending tournament in Dallas, Texas. The first final in the Academy's history.
“Last year was a great season for the academy. We had a very successful run with the U15’s all the way to the final of the MLS NEXT Cup and we had 10 players from our U17 squad participating in their respective national teams’ programs. These are great experience the players and staff are carrying into the new season, and we want to continue to build on that success “, said Academy director Marinos Papageorgopoulos.
