CF Montréal returns to Stade Saputo to take on D.C. United

First game at Stade Saputo in 2023 for Montreal

CF Montréal is finally back at Stade Saputo for the first time in 2023, to take on D.C. United this Saturday, April 15, at 7:30pm. You can purchase tickets at cfmontreal.com, or watch live on Apple TV with the MLS Season Pass. The game will also be available on RDS, TSN, BPM Sports and TSN 690.

This will be just a second game played at home for CF Montréal, the first taking place on March 18 at Olympic Stadium against the Philadelphia Union. Montreal emerged victorious in that one, notching the winning goal in the game’s final seconds to win 3-2.

It’s been more difficult on the road for head coach Hernan Losada’s men. Montreal played five of its first six games away from home this season but hasn’t been able to win any of its away fixtures thus far.

“It concerns all of us,” said head coach Hernan Losada. We need to be more efficient in front of goal and more aggressive in our defensive duels. We’re all in the same boat and we need to pull together to find solutions, improve, and give more to our fans.”

CF Montréal completed the trade of centre-back Kamal Miller this week, who heads to Miami in exchange for midfielder Bryce Duke and forward Ariel Lassiter. Both players joined the Montreal side in training for the first time on Friday, and could potentially be included in the group that will be dressed to take on D.C. United this weekend.

D.C. United has also struggled to start the season. Despite on season opening win against Toronto FC, the Washington representatives haven’t won a game since then, adding four losses and two draws ever since. Designated Player Christian Benteke will be one to watch, with the Belgian striker already notching three goals in 2023.

“It's a different game because we're playing at Stade Saputo for the first time, in front of our fans," said Losada. “I hope we get a lot of support, like we did at Olympic Stadium. It will give us extra energy to play three consecutive games in front of our fans."

CF Montréal will kick off its road in the 2023 Canadian Championship this Tuesday, April 18, against Vaughan SC, with kick off scheduled at 7pm at Stade Saputo. Tickets for that game are available here. The Bleu-blanc-noir will then return to MLS to host the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, April 22, at 7:30pm. Tickets for that game are available here.
