Whether you’re a loyal supporter… or casual soccer fan, experiencing a soccer game in person is like no other sports experience in the world, with its charged atmosphere, crowd interaction and fan activation, attending a live match at the stadium cannot be matched.
Here are the top 5 can’t miss games in 2015:
- March 18 – Olympic Stadium: This one doesn’t need much explanation. The Impact will be hosting the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League semifinal series against Costa Rican side Alajuelense at the Big O after dispatching of Mexican club Pachuca in the quarterfinals. The team made history on two fronts: beating a Mexican club in a knockout for series for the very first time on route to qualifying for the semis, another first. The atmosphere at the Pachuca game was incredible, so what do you think the historic semifinal matchup will be like! (marquonslhistoire.com)
- March 28 – Home opener at Olympic Stadium: Two reasons to be excited for this one as not only is it the home opener in 2015, but it also marks the first time expansion side Orlando City SC comes to la belle province, along with international superstar Kaka! OCSC will be returning to Montreal on June 20.
- April 18 – Home opener at Stade Saputo: With the changing seasons in Montreal, the club is forced to host two home openers. This one marks the first game at Stade Saputo for the Impact. Added bonus, it marks the first game of the season versus the Chicago Fire, where a number of current Impact players have ties: Mapp, Duka, Soumare and coach Klopas.
- July 4 - NYCFC comes to town: This game marks the first ever visit by the expansion side to Montreal. With David Villa probably settled and scoring goals by this point in MLS, this could also be the debut match of the club’s other DP - international star Frank Lampard - who is set to join NYCFC during the summer transfer window. The Impact game just happens to be the first match for New York after the window opens!
- October 25 – Final game of the 2015 season versus TFC: This might be the last match of the season, but it will prove to be an interesting. With the league’s new concept for the final weekend of regular season action, Decision Day will mark the first time all teams in each conference will play one another at the same time, but it will also be a chance to see Michael Bradley play alongside his new teammates and DP signings Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco.
