CF Montréal looking to go six straight unbeaten

Finally.

After 28 straight games played on the road in the United States, CF Montréal can finally return home this Saturday at 7:30pm to host FC Cincinnati at Stade Saputo (TVA Sports, 91.9 Sports, TSN 690).

Considering the province’s health guidelines regarding Covid-19, a maximum capacity of 5,000 supporters, all Members, will be allowed into the stadium. 350 tickets were also given to essential workers, who will take over section 123.

The news was met with smiles from the team’s players and coaching staff, many of whom have never experienced a game yet at the Club’s home stadium.

“I’m happy. Happy for everyone,” said head coach Wilfried Nancy. “Not only for ourselves, the players and the staff, but for the city as well. We can’t wait. We’re excited. We were able to train at Stade Saputo to find our bearings a little. It’s a new environment for a lot of players. But we’re so happy to be back in Montreal. It’s home.”

Despite playing its first 12 games of the season on the road, Montreal has been able to emerge unscathed with a solid record of five wins, four draws, and just three losses. Wilfried Nancy’s men find themselves fourth in the Eastern Conference, just two points away from second. They’ve gone unbeaten in their last five games, managing three wins and two draws, including two consecutive wins.

And now, they’re finally coming home. Things are certainly looking good for the Montreal side.

FC Cincinnati, on its end, is coming off two consecutive draws and finds itself 11th in the East, but the Montreal side has struggled against the team from Ohio since it entered MLS.

“We haven’t been able to beat them, despite of the fact that we had many opportunities to do so. We have a chance to change that on Saturday,” said Nancy. “The last game we were close to winning and we had a lot of opportunities to score, but we didn’t, and in the end, they scored. Like I like to say, I don’t live in the past, and now we have an opportunity to beat them.”

Montreal kicks off a busy sequence with its game against FC Cincinnati. The Montreal side will travel to New York to take on New York City FC on Wednesday at 7:30 pm (TVA Sports, 91.9 Sports, TSN 690), before travelling to Massachusetts for a matchup against the New England Revolution on Sunday, July 25 (TVA Sports, TSN, 91.9 Sports, TSN 690).
