Mauro Biello satisfied with team's progress

Impact assistant-coach Mauro Biello likes what he is seeing in Los Angeles.

The ex-forward is satisfied with the progress made by the players during the two games played against Houston and Portland last week.

“The intensity has increased every day,” said Biello. “The players have gotten to know each other on the field and we’ve seen a lot of a positives out there.”

The assistant-coach came back on the team’s first loss in preseason, against the Houston Dynamo. According to Biello, the team needed to adapt in its first game against an MLS side.

“The first one against Houston was hard, especially in terms of the playing speed,” admitted the assistant coach. “The players understood that the game was faster than in Mexico and have adjusted well against Portland.”

The Impact is now looking forward to Tuesday’s game against the LA Galaxy. Biello sees this game as a good time to work on a few things, such as defensive play and ball possession.

“We’ll concentrate on the areas that need improvement,” he told us. “We need to close down the play more efficiently when we lose the ball and move faster when we have possession.”
