The Impact faces UCLA and Ventura County Fusion on Friday

Team training California LA

CARSON, California – The Montreal Impact concludes its preseason tour in California on Friday with two games at the Home Depot Center, starting with the NCAA’s UCLA Bruins, at 1pm ET, before facing the Ventura County Fusion, of the USL Premier Development League. Both games are slated for 90 minutes.

The Impact has a record of 3-2-3 in preseason action since the start of camp, which continues in Orlando, Florida, with the Walt Disney Pro Classic tournament, beginning February 21.

Players took part in a training session Thursday morning, working on crossing and long passes deep into the offensive zone. Goalkeepers’ coach Preston Burpo focused on training drills for keepers Evan Bush, Donovan Ricketts and Greg Sutton.

“The three goalkeepers are performing well so far,” said Burpo. “We have been working on movement and how to line up against hard, powerful shots. The coaching staff is quite pleased with the progression of the goalkeepers. They are working hard in practice, which has shown on the field during games.”

The Impact will kick off its inaugural season in the North American first division on Saturday, March 10, against Canadian rival Vancouver Whitecaps FC, at 6pm (ET), at BC Place in Vancouver. The club will then host its historic home opener at Olympic Stadium against the Chicago Fire on March 17, at 2 pm ET.

Season tickets for 2012 are still available and can be purchased via the team’s website at impactmontreal.com or by calling 514-328-3668. Individual tickets are available for the Olympic Stadium games via the Admission network.
