The Impact faces the Charleston Battery Friday at Saputo Stadium

The Impact is looking for its first win of the season. In its last game, the Impact was shut out 1-0 by the Toronto FC, Wednesday, at BMO Field, in its first Nutrilite Canadian Championship. The Impact lost 2-1 against the Rochester Rhinos in its most recent regular season game, last Saturday, in its home opener at Saputo Stadium.

“We need to take one game at a time, but we need to take on every game as a final,” said new Montreal Impact head coach Marc Dos Santos. “The only important thing on Friday is to get the three points. The games against Charleston are always difficult because they are well organized. I think that the most focused team will win the game.”

“There’s no doubt that this is a very important game,” said veteran defender Nevio Pizzolitto. “We need to get back on the right track. A major change has been announced Thursday and it’s a big wakeup call for everybody. Players realize that at the end of the day, it’s up to us to perform. There are no more excuses, we have to step up and try to get results.”

The Impact is playing under the .500 mark in 18 games against Charleston (8-9-1, 18 BP – 18 GA). In the last game between both teams, April 18 at Blackbaud Stadium, in Charleston, the clubs tied 0-0.

The Battery, which is playing its 6th season game, remains undefeated and is ranked fourth in the USL First Division.

Midfielder Rocco Placentino tallied one point in the three last regular season games. Nick De Santis holds the record with six games with at least one point.

Adam Braz’s next start will be his 94th with the Impact. He will join Mauricio Vincello in 10th rank in club history.

The Impact will play a second game in less than 48 hours, Sunday, against the Austin Aztek at Saputo Stadium at 3:30 pm (Radio-Canada, CKAC Sports, THE TEAM 990, USLlive.com).
