Impact expects loud building this Saturday at Olympic Stadium after long 10-day road trip

Felipe 2012 home opener vs Chicago Fire

The last time Frank Klopas managed the bench at a home opener at Olympic Stadium, his Chicago Fire left with a 1-1 draw in front of a raucous crowd taking in the club’s first ever MLS game in Montreal.

Now as the head coach of the Montreal Impact, he’ll look to use that support to make sure he gets a victory this time around.

“Being at the Olympic Stadium as an opposing coach, it’s not a pleasant place to be for the visiting team,” said Klopas. “The supporters are fantastic here. It’s incredible and it’s important for us to be back home and play in front of our fans. I know the players will be prepared to walk out there, represent the jersey, the city and the supporters with respect. It’s exciting. ”

With over 24,000 tickets already sold, Klopas and his troops are expecting lots of support, continuing to show dominance at home.

“Taking points a home is so important in this league,” added defender Jeb Brovsky. “Like in Houston and Seattle, Montreal has become a tough place for visiting teams to get points. We need to set that tone right away for 2014, on the field and through the support of our fans.”
