The Impact does not care for extreme weather

A “warm” reunion at Olympic Stadium

The Montreal Impact players did not need to put nails under their shoes for training today: the Olympic Stadium turf field was available on this Tuesday morning, even though a winter weather cocktail was served to the city. On the pitch, players were definitely more at ease to change directions than the cars on the roads across Québec, but you could already feel the direction is set for this 2017 season.

“I think we still have something to accomplish,” said winger Dominic Oduro. “In Toronto [in the playoffs last year], everyone knew they still had something to give. That’s the reason why they kept the group, that is why everybody is back: it’s because we have something to finish. Hopefully, we can do it this year. We knew we have the ability and the drive in us to push forward. I can’t wait to start the season again, and I can’t wait to face Toronto again.”

“The important thing is to stay strong mentally,” explained captain Patrice Bernier. “Even if we had a good season last year, we want to be better this season. It means that every day, we have to show character and personality, so that our team carries on in its path.”

The Impact will thus continue its training camp in northern Florida, in Orlando, until February 3; the following week, training sessions will be held at Olympic Stadium, before the team returns to the Sunshine State on February 14, this time in St. Petersburg, near Tampa Bay.
