Trailing 1-0 following a goal by Timbers midfielder Neil Dombrowski in the 85th minute, Impact forward Alen Marcina tied the game a minute later with a high shot that beat goalkeeper Josh Wicks.
For Marcina, it was his first goal in the Impact uniform since his arrival with the team on June 15, following a trade which sent defender Lars Lyssand to Puerto Rico.
His goal ended a stretch of 315 consecutive minutes without scoring for the Montreal Impact.
Goalkeeper Matt Jordan was particularly outstanding in the last minutes of play, stopping point blank shots from Kreamalmeyer (75th) and Thompson (82nd).
Impact defender Mauricio Vincello also saved the game during stoppage time by clearing with a header a shot by the Timbers that had Jordan beaten.
The Impact, which lost 1-0 on June 8 against the Timbers at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex, now holds a 2-3-2 record against their West Coast rivals.
The Impact is the only USL D1 team that remains undefeated this season (2-0-3).
The Impact had to manage again without four players: defenders Nevio Pizzolitto (knee) and Gabriel Gervais (groin), as well as midfielders Mauro Biello (thigh) and Antonio Ribeiro (national team).
Montreal will play its next game this Saturday against the Sounders in Seattle at 10 pm (USLlive.com). The team will play its next home game on Friday, June 29, against the Puerto Rico Islanders (USLlive.com).

39th minute – From the penalty point, forward Frederico Moojen deflected Gbeke’s low centering pass from the right flank, just above the crossbar.
46th minute – Posted at the entrance of the 18-yard box, Moojen accepted a pass from Gbeke and then took a hard low shot but Timbers goalkeeper Josh Wicks dove to his right to make the save.
