The Impact U21 opened the scoring in the 19th minute of play. Standing in the 18-yard box, defender Karl Ouimette deflected a free kick from midfielder Wandrille Lefevre from 30 meters out, beating Ottawa goalkeeper Clinton Irwin to his right.
Capital City FC scored the game-tying goal in the 85th minute of play when defender Joel Bagdy, who entered the game three minutes earlier, beat Impact U21 goalkeeper Dominic Provost to his left.
Provost replaced starting goalkeeper Jason Beaulieu, who was ejected at the 82nd minute. A total of five ejections and nine cautions occurred during the match.
“It was a men’s game, against a good team,” said Impact U21 head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. “With this kind of game, our young players continue to progress in terms of intensity and physical involvement.”
The Academy will play its next game against the York Region Shooters on Saturday, June 25 at 1pm at Complexe sportif Marie-Victorin, before hosting the Toronto FC Acadmy the following day at 4pm at Saputo Stadium. Fans will have the chance to attend this game for a cost of $4 for adults and $2 for children.
