MONTREAL – Presented by BMO, CF Montréal’s first team will play an exhibition game against an All-Star team from the Première ligue de soccer du Québec (PLSQ).
As part of its 2023 preseason training camp, presented by Allstate Insurance, the match will take place on Friday, February 3 at 5pm at the Olympic Stadium and will be open to media as well as PLSQ and Soccer Québec staff.
The All-Star team roster will consist of a selection as determined by a survey of PLSQ club head coaches. In preparation for the match, the PLSQ All-Stars will take part in four training sessions led by CF Montréal Academy technical staff.
The PLSQ All-Stars will also be led by FC Laval’s Boubacar Coulibaly, 2022 PLSQ Coach of the Year.
“We know the PLSQ is a good league with a talented player pool. The collaboration between its clubs, the league and Soccer Québec regarding the roster selection process and the event’s organization were incredible and we are grateful,” said CF Montréal Academy Director Marinos Papageorgopoulos. “It is one of the many projects we keep building on with partners from the soccer community. The intention is always to contribute to the growth of our sport.”
“Thank you to CF Montréal for organizing this match and for providing a platform for PLSQ talent to shine,” said Soccer Québec’s Managing Director, Martin DesGroseilliers. “We are very pleased with this collaboration between Quebec’s soccer network and our professional club in MLS.”
CF Montréal’s first team began its 2023 preseason training camp in Montreal on January 9. The team will continue its preseason in Florida starting February 5 with four games scheduled against Florida International University (NCAA), the Houston Dynamo (MLS), Inter Miami CF (MLS) and the Tampa Bay Rowdies (USL Championship).
Founded in 2012 with the supervision of Soccer Québec, the PLSQ is the first semi-professional soccer division of its kind in Quebec with twelve clubs registered in its men's and women's leagues.
